The Pre-GivingThanks Prep Begins ...

Charlie Brown Thanksgiving

Turkey is thawed out and ready for an overnight soaking in a salty water citrus and herb flavored brine before going in the smoker sometime at o-dark thirty tomorrow morning. Twenty, twenty five years ago I decided to try something different and brined a turkey for the first time. Since, I have never had a dry turkey and have often been asked to smoke the turkey for different gatherings and social get togethers. I have also tried a number of different brine solutions over time and have learned the KISS method to be best, ‘Keep It Simple Stupid!’

The Wifely Unit makes the best and definitely a family staple sausage and bread stuffing. As we are prepping for our entire brood, and then some, I am sure as I enjoy a few cold Barley Pops this afternoon she will be cracking that whip of hers and have me dress in nothing but my cooking apron bellied up to the cutting board working on the celery and onion for her. She’s in to that kinda kinky holiday shit.

One more run here shortly to the ole Koger for a couple more necessary items and we should be all set for our GivingThanks gathering with family and friends. Remember, you still have two days to go before Christmas music is officially allowed. Have a Blessed and Happy Thanksgiving.
